Sky sources: Jamal Khashoggi's body parts found

The Saudis have laid out different versions of the circumstances that led to the death of Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist and critic of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who was not seen after entering the consulate on October 2.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the USA is revoking the visas of Saudis found to be involved in the killing of Khashoggi.

"There should have never been an execution or a cover-up, because it should have never happened", Trump told reporters. "I believe it is painful for every human in the world", he said.

At Wednesday's summit, the crown prince was to talk with Bahrain's crown prince and Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri, whom many suspect was coerced by Prince Mohammed to resign from his position on a visit to Saudi Arabia a year ago.

The case has shone the spotlight on Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed, who has spearheaded reforms in the kingdom but now faces a stream of allegations - denied by Riyadh - that he ordered a high-profile critic killed.

Earlier in the day, French government spokesman Benjamin Griveaux said Paris "would draw the necessary conclusions and impose appropriate sanctions" once the French intelligence services conclude "Saudi Arabia's responsibility has been proved".

Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also said it was "very difficult" to drop an arms deal with Riyadh worth billions of dollars.

Trump has expressed some doubts about the Saudi narrative, however, and on Tuesday described Khashoggi's killing as the "worst" cover-up in history.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced Tuesday that the US would be revoking the visas of Saudi operatives who are accused of killing Saudi columnist Jamal Khashoggi, although he didn't specify how many visas would be revoked at the time.

While Mr Trump has ramped up his criticisms of Saudi officials, he has also highlighted the kingdom's importance as a USA ally.

"We are determined not to allow the murder to be covered up and for those responsible - from the person who gave the order to those who executed it - not to escape justice", he said in the capital, Ankara.

Erdogan called on the King of Saudi Arabia for the 18 Saudi suspects linked to Khashoggi's death be tried in Istanbul. "Somebody really messed up, and they had the worst cover-up ever".

President Erdogan spoke to Prince Mohammed on Wednesday and the two discussed the steps needed to bring to light all aspects of the killing of Khashoggi, a presidential source said.

The report said a friend of the Khashoggi family had told the Associated Press that Salah had come under a travel ban since his father had began writing critically about the prince for The Washington Post.

Pompeo added that the United States would "continue to explore additional measures to hold those responsible accountable" for the heinous murder and cover-up later of the Washington Post columnist.
