United Nations drugs board slams Canada cannabis legalization

Lindstrom said people need to be aware if carrying legally purchased marijuana when flying from Canada to the U.S.

American TV news trucks, such as NBC, were spotted at a pot shop where long lineups were forming in Montreal.

Canada just became the second industrialized nation in the world to legalize cannabis for recreational use and society is already struggling to adjust a little, with pot paucity already proving problematic.

Countries around the globe, many of whom are just approving medical marijuana, are watching Canada's recreational legalization, which combines federal rules with varying provincial regulations.

Ontario, Canada's most populous province, will only begin opening retail stores next spring, though residents will be able to order cannabis online.

The end of marijuana prohibition is a watershed moment for Canada, but it comes with a lot of questions about how this will actually play out across the country. The goal is to better reflect society's changing opinion about marijuana and bring black market operators into a regulated system. But Kamin added, "I'm frankly surprised to hear about Canadians purchasing these US companies, where the risks are lower there".

While numerous States in the U.S. have legalized at the state level, including Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Maine, Massachusetts, Nevada, Vermont and California, federal law still prohibits cultivation, possession and sales of the plant.

A spokesperson for the Ontario Cannabis Store told CP24 Thursday that they are happy with how the site is performing and called the delay an "unfortunately side effect" of the high number of orders they have been processing.

Google to Charge for Apps on Android Phones in Europe
Until now, Google has only allowed phone vendors to ship the Play Store app with their phones only if they abide by strict rules. Alphabet, Google's parent company, makes nearly 90 percent of its $100 billion in annual sales from search and advertising.

But it was business as usual at the Cannabis Buyers Club in Victoria, which is the oldest marijuana dispensary in Canada and possibly the world. In Alberta and Quebec, that applies to anyone over 18; it's anyone over 19 in the rest of Canada.

Tom Clarke, who sold marijuana illegally for 30 years, was also one of the first to make a legal sale in Canada.

As with most things, it's all about quality, however pricing weed has to be done in accordance with what you could buy illegally before.

"They learn irrigation, how to use irrigation, insect control, trapping - " said Alan Unwin from Niagara College, "Students, when they graduate from this program, will have a credential in commercial cannabis production".

However, only cannabis purchased from officially recognised stores will be legal, while laws will differ across the country's 10 provinces and 3 territories.

In the wake of the legalization, the bottom has fallen out of the market, temporarily at least, as some of the largest marijuana producers by market capitalization Canopy Growth, Tilray, Cronos, and Aurora Cannabis were trading down between four and nine percent, Markets Insider reports.

"I can't believe we did it".
