GOP senators demand probe of Feinstein’s office after Kavanaugh accusations

"Pain on Flake's face, and pain in the voices of the women who needed him to hear their stories".

That makes it unclear who could investigate it - if any agency or for that matter any authority even has an interest in doing so.

It's not. If Republicans maintain control of the Senate majority, Graham is all but certain to become the new chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham is calling the Democrats' treatment of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh the "most despicable thing" he has seen in politics. She reached out to the accuser and encouraged her to lawyer up, but she did not share the allegations with the rest of the committee.

Republican senators and candidates, including Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said.

None of those calls for investigations, though, have been specific about how an agency could proceed.

White House says not 'micromanaging' Federal Bureau of Investigation probe of Kavanaugh
Democratic challenger Tom Malinowski says the issue goes beyond whether Kavanaugh should be on the court. Two other women besides Ford have also lodged public sexual misconduct allegations against Kavanaugh.

After Kavanaugh talked about how he "busted his butt" on academics and played sports in high school, Leahy said: "We got a filibuster but not a single answer". Because unless investigators uncover long-lost witnesses that can finally corroborate Ford's allegation, Kavanaugh's confirmation is inevitable.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Trump agreed - and the president directed the Federal Bureau of Investigation to examine "all credible allegations" against Kavanaugh. During the earlier session with Ms. Blasey Ford, Republicans deferred to a female sex-crimes prosecutor hired specifically to ask questions. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., for waiting until the committee was about to vote to address Ford's claim, which she had known about for six weeks.

Brett Kavanaugh looked in desperate need of a fighter on his behalf Thursday as he gave impassioned testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee denying allegations of sexual assault.

But all 10 of the panel's Democrats repeatedly called for an FBI investigation of Ford's allegation and those of two other women. This phase of it began when some Democrat leaked Ford's name and accusation to the press, forcing her to abandon the anonymity she'd requested and guaranteeing enormous pain for her - all to gum up the confirmation. She also tweeted on Saturday night, reiterating the fact that she didn't leak the letter.

The leaking of Blasey Ford's letter is not considered a crime. Ford said she was "100 percent" certain a drunken Kavanaugh pinned her to a bed, tried to remove her clothes and clapped a hand over her mouth as she tried to yell for help. Therefore, making that letter public is not a crime, for Blasey Ford's attorney or otherwise. Challenger Josh Hawley (R) still holds a slight edge over Sen.
