Amazon tipped to launch 8 Alexa smart home and vehicle gadgets

The info they've reviewed shows a list of devices that includes a microwave oven, amplifier, receiver, subwoofer, and an in-car gadget.

The CNBC states that Amazon is expected to reveal some of these devices at an event later this month as more and more consumers come around to the idea of the connected smart home.

Some of the devices will have Alexa built-in, while the others will pair to other Alexa-controlled devices. GE already makes a microwave that supports Alexa; there are also a bunch of products from other hardware brands like Logitech and Garmin that help you take Alexa on the road, so it'll be interesting to see what Amazon comes up with to take them on. All of these will be Alexa-enabled with some even having Alexa built in.

Meanwhile, additional details on these forthcoming smart appliances are extremely slim: CNBC cities only "an internal document" and "people familiar with the matter" before later stating that Amazon declined to comment.

Hurricane Florence takes aim at east coast
A number of tropical storms in the Atlantic Ocean, with the potential to strengthen to hurricanes , are heading towards land. On Friday North Carolina declared a state of emergency , and other states along the East Coast are preparing for the storm.

Earlier this year, Amazon acquired the smart doorbell maker Ring, which also makes devices that are compatible with Alexa. Alexa has pushed Amazon to become a leader in home automation, with an assortment of home accessories deeply integrated into the platform.

Amazon is also reported to be working on a secretive home robot. Sonos has a similar business model. And costing just $50 for its latest revision, it's an unrivaled entry point for Amazon's digital future. At the lowest end of the line is Amazon Echo Dot, a small Alexa-enabled speaker, without comprising on features seen in pricier counterparts.

'There are now tens of thousands of developers across more than 150 countries building new devices using the Alexa Voice Service, and the number of Alexa-enabled devices has more than tripled in the previous year'.
