Pressure Mounts On Republicans To Postpone Brett Kavanaugh Vote

A group of women who attended Holton-Arms have begun to circulate a letter of support for Ford. Dianne Feinstein, the ranking member of the committee. According to USA media, some Republicans on the panel also said the vote should be delayed until the committee can hear Ford's testimony.

It is unclear if Trump Jr was aware at the time that Ford, a psychology professor at Palo Alto University in California, would make her identity known the next day in the Washington Post. Kavanaugh has responded in a statement Monday by saying he is also willing to testify under oath.

In 2002, she married Russell Ford, in Half Moon Bay, Calif., according to a marriage announcement from the time. This testimony seems particularly important, given the suspiciously timed accusation of sexual assault coming from 51-year-old accuser Christine Blasey Ford.

The school's head, Susanna Jones, released a statement Sunday calling it "imperative" that Ford's story be heard.

Grassley's office said Sunday that the committee is working to set up a time for a staff call with Ford. "Many of us are survivors ourselves". Asked if that included sworn testimony at a public hearing before senators, Katz told CBS's "This Morning" program: "She's willing to do what she needs to do". Chuck Grassley, said he wants to hear from Ford as well.

Martha McKenna, a Democratic strategist from Maryland, said by phone that the Kavanaugh allegations are "just another layer to an already highly motivated electorate".

"Kavanaugh physically pushed me into a bedroom as I was headed for a bathroom up a short stair well from the living room".

At one point when [Judge] jumped onto the bed the weight on me was substantial.

"I thought he might inadvertently kill me", said Ford in the interview.

According to Bloomberg News, who spoke to a White House official, President Trump's team will continue forward with the nomination, refusing to pull Kavanaugh's name from the nomination, and instead they will try to attack the credibility of the alleged victim.

Ford told the Post that Kavanaugh "was trying to attack me and remove my clothing" at a teenagers' party one summer in the early 1980s. The therapist's notes say that four boys were involved, but Ford said that was an error on the therapist's part.

"This is a completely false allegation". Moderates in both parties including pivotal Republican Senator Susan Collins and Democratic Senator Joe Manchin said Kavanaugh and Ford should be given the chance to testify before the committee, a move that could delay the confirmation process.

Kavanaugh says in the statement he "had no idea who was making this accusation until she identified herself". Kavanaugh said on Monday that he is willing to refute Ford's "false allegation" before the Senate Judiciary Committee if necessary. Mr Judge denied that the incident happened.

Banks said Ford struggled "mightily" with the decision to alert lawmakers to the alleged incident. She believes if it were not for the severe intoxication of Brett Kavanaugh, she would have been raped'.

The allegation was made public last week by Sen.

Thomas, the second African-American nominated to the Supreme Court, denied the allegations and said he was the victim of "a high-tech lynching for uppity blacks who in any way deign to think for themselves".

A spokesman for Mr Grassley said Mr Kavanaugh already went through several days of hearings and has been investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Ford said she will participate in any proceedings she is invited to participate in.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said in a statement that Grassley "must postpone the vote until, at a very minimum, these serious and credible allegations are thoroughly investigated".
