Here Is What Brett Kavanaugh Said About Sexual Misconduct In His Hearings

In the meantime, 65 women who have known Kavanaugh since his high school years signed a letter addressed to both Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley and Feinstein affirming Kavanaugh's good character. She says that both boys were "stumbling drunk" and that the friend watched as Kavanaugh pinned her to a bed and clumsily tried to pull off her clothes.

In her Sunday op-ed, Feinstein accuses Kavanaugh of being overly ideological and references the sexual misconduct allegation.

Some Republicans last week responded to reports with some of the same details Ford shared with the Post by noting Kavanaugh has denied any such incident ever occurred. "I did not do this back in high school or at any time", his statement said. At some point in the night, Ford told the Post, she got up to use the bathroom.

The therapist notes say four boys were involved. "I did not do this back in high school or at any time", Kavanaugh said. The professor said she was being treated for long-term effects of the encounter which she described as a "rape attempt".

In the interview, Ford said that the lasting trauma from the attack had "derailed me substantially for four or five years", and had caused anxiety for years after that.

Brett Kavanaugh will more than likely be our next Supreme Court Justice, despite obvious proof that he is unqualified and will work to dismantle civil liberties. "I categorically and unequivocally deny this allegation", he said in a statement.

Ford is a clinical psychology professor at Palo Alto University who teaches in a consortium with Stanford University.

Ford had contacted the Post through a tip line in early July after it had become clear that Kavanaugh was on Trump's shortlist to fill a vacancy but before the Republican president nominated him, the newspaper said.

Democrats Ramp Up Attacks on Kavanaugh's Honesty After Hearings
Some liberals have expressed concern Kavanaugh could be a rubber stamp for Trump and protect him from lawsuits and investigations. The Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to vote on Kavanaugh this week, though Democrats may try to delay that vote.

Grassley's office says it will proceed with the planned Judiciary committee vote on Kavanaugh's nomination next week. She said, if anyone was going to tell her story, she wanted it to be her.

Ford is a registered Democrat.

The accuser coming forward publicly could put new pressure on Senate Republicans to at least review the accusations before proceeding to a Judiciary Committee vote, which is scheduled for Thursday afternoon.

The FBI confirmed it had received the letter but indicated it was not immediately pursuing the allegations. She had forwarded it to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, who added it to Kavanaugh's background file ― but said it had no plans to investigate the allegation further.

Ronan Farrow, who co-authored The New Yorker article, told CNN that some members of the Senate Judiciary Committee "feel that there was a missed opportunity to fully interrogate this allegation".

Kavanaugh, from the moment Trump announced his nomination, has stressed he has supported and promoted women. "I never saw Brett act that way", he said before Ford's identity was revealed.

But her calculus changed when her account began to leak and reporters began to approach her.
