CBS Independent Directors Respond to Report of Misconduct by CEO Les Moonves

CBS chief Les Moonves has been accused of sexual misconduct by six women - including actress Illeana Douglas - in a bombshell new report that claims the toxic culture is widespread through the network. "While that litigation process continues, the CBS management team has the full support of the independent board members" CBS added".

The article also reported that 30 current and former employees said other inappropriate behavior happened elsewhere at the company, including CBS News and its flagship program "60 Minutes". Farrow's previous reporting brought down Harvey Weinstein, earning him a Pulitzer Prize.

In a statement, CBS said it was looking into the allegations and would "take appropriate action". In Ronan Farrow's report, six women who worked with Moonves between the 1980s and the early aughts claim that he sexually harassed them.

Moonves has held numerous executive positions at CBS since he began working for the company in 1995.

Redstone has long wanted to merge the two companies, and Moonves has long resisted, leading to a protracted legal battle that has the network itself in the cross hairs.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Farrow's piece is about CBS as a whole, including Moonves, who is said to be accused of sexual misconduct in the past.

"CBS is very mindful of all workplace issues and takes each report of misconduct very seriously".

As for the story itself, and the allegations therein, we'll update this post and/or share new information as soon as it comes to light.

He is considered one of the most powerful men in the entertainment industry and among one of the highest paid CEOs, according to The Associated Press.

Mr. Moonves became the president of CBS when the network was relying heavily on shows like Murder She Wrote and Touched By An Angel.

A person "familiar with the situation" told The Wall Street Journal that CBS has no plans to sideline Moonves during its investigation. CBS sued REDSTONE to prevent her from attempting to take control by ousting directors or changing bylaws.

"A spokeswoman for National Amusements Inc said, "(Shari) Redstone hopes that the investigation of these allegations is thorough, open and transparent".
