Trump Says European Union Is America’s Biggest ‘Foe’

Trump Says European Union Is America’s Biggest ‘Foe’

The United States has no extradition treaty with Moscow and can't compel Russian Federation to hand over citizens.

A Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee said that since President Donald Trump has "believed" President Vladimir Putin's denials that the Russian government meddled in the 2016 us election, it "belies common sense" that Trump "is going to sit down across from Putin and press him hard on the issue of Russian meddling".

By Margaret TalevPresident Donald Trump named the European Union as a "foe" of the U.S.in an interview, days after a contentious meeting with North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies, but a top European official said the suggestion was " fake news". "I don't know what's going to happen, but I can tell you what I'll be asking for and we'll see if something comes of it".

U.S. President Donald Trump is setting low expectations for his Monday's summit in Helsinki with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Russia's constitution also prohibits turning over citizens to foreign governments.

He also blamed the Democratic National Committee for "allowing themselves to be hacked".

The president taped the interview on Saturday in Scotland.

Meanwhile, thousands of protesters gathered in Helsinki on Sunday ahead of Trump's arrival.

But insisting he had won the race fair and square, the wealthy property tycoon said: "I have President Putin, he just said it is not Russian Federation".

Asked if he trusted USA intelligence agencies, which concluded that Russian Federation interfered in the 2016 election, Trump said he had been told by his CIA chief that Russian Federation was to blame, but he was not certain.

He revealed that he had not thought about asking for the extradition of 12 Russians indicted for allegedly meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said Trump had missed an opportunity to firmly hold Russian Federation accountable for 2016 meddling and deliver a warning about any efforts to interfere in future USA elections.

A senior White House adviser on Sunday also downplayed the meeting, saying the USA was not seeking any "concrete deliverables".

Trump complained: "No matter how well I do at the Summit", he'll face "criticism that it wasn't good enough". "I think the European Union is a foe, what they do to us in trade".

His meeting with North Korea's Kim Jong Un ended with a decision by Trump to end US-South Korean military exercises, much to the surprise of Seoul and Tokyo.

"Frankly, Putin may be the easiest of them all".

Trump has said he will raise the issue of Russian election meddling, along with Syria, Ukraine, nuclear proliferation and other topics. Bolton described the meeting as "unstructured", saying: "We're not looking for concrete deliverables here".

Russia's largely Kremlin-friendly TV networks, websites and newspapers portrayed Trump as a political maverick who is being unfairly targeted by his own compatriots, according to the latest samplings.

The U.S. and Russian presidents are scheduled to then hold a joint press conference before concluding their time together in Finland.

Trump heads into the summit with little clear agenda other than to strengthen his personal rapport with Putin, which he thinks is crucial to improving relations between Washington and Moscow.
