N.C. man loses job after pool access tiff with Black family

Based on the incident at the Glenridge Community Swimming Pool located in the 3300 block of Tallison Drive, the Winston-Salem Police Department (WSPD) has received multiple national and worldwide media requests for both an official statement and for release of the telephone call from the reporting person to the WSPD Communications Center. But he added that he was "not surprised by social media's desire to only get part of the story".

Eric Ellison, Abhulimen's attorney, issued a statement Friday saying Abhulimen "was the target of racial profiling" and that "this incident was traumatizing to Mrs. Abhulimen and her entire family".

Bloom described his leaving Sonoco as a "mutual separation".

"It's just really hard for me to know I made another person feel that way", Bloom said.

In response, the manidentified as Bloom replied that he asks for IDs a couple times per week. She produces the key for the officer.

The incident has garnered national attention. Besides all the other racist things that don't reach viral internet status, there's been #BBQBecky and #PermitPatty, and even residents who called the police on a black firefighter doing his job.

Jasmine Edwards wanted to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday by bringing her son to their local pool in Winston-Salem.

Last month Alison Ettel called police on an eight year-old black girl selling bottles of water outside AT&T Park in San Francisco.

Are Pochettino's Tottenham tactics hurting Eric Dier's World Cup chances?
"I think both sides are keen to continue that work at a faster pace than we have done up till now and certainly we would welcome that", she said today.

When the woman's keycard opens the gate, the police officer tells the man that is all she needs to get into the pool.

On Facebook, Abhulimen accused Bloom of racial profiling: "This is a classic case of racial profiling in my half a million $$ neighborhood pool".

"They kinda make their way around sometimes", he tells the officer, seemingly referring to Black people he believes wrongly use neighborhood pools.

"Nobody else was asked (for) their ID", Edwards says. "My own pool", Edwards said in the video. The woman asked Bloom if he had to apologize, and he ignored her question before leaving the scene.

The member then asked Bloom to verify Abhulimen' address, and when she gave what appeared to be a different one, Bloom said he thought "there's something a little askew" and asked for her ID. "This guy is in a very hard situation, and it's all because of a very misleading video".

Vermitsky said Bloom is now getting death threats and had to leave his home with his wife and three children to find a safer location.

A statement from Bloom's attorney states, "When violations of these regulations occur, it is Mr. Bloom's job to either address and correct the violation or remove the member from the pool".

Though that is the name she uses on her Facebook page, her lawyer says her legal name is Jazmine Abhulimen.
