Family of 11 found hanging in Delhi home with eyes, mouth covered

A family of 11 found dead at their home in New Delhi had been observing "spiritual, mystical practices", police said.

"The gold jewellery on the bodies of the females was found intact", said Mr. Kumar. "We can't rule out anything", he said.

According to the police's preliminary investigation, it seems that seven women, four men committed suicide.

There were no bullet marks on the victims' bodies and there was no sign of forced entry into the house, Kumar said.

One of the bodies was found lying on the floor and the others hanging from a railing attached to the ceiling, media reports said.

"These notes have strong similarity with the manner in which the mouths, eyes etc of the deceased were tied and taped". The members have been identified as 75-year-old man Narayan, 60-year-old Partibha, 30-year-old Priyanka, 46-year-old Bhupi, 42-year-old Savita, 24-year-old Nitu, 22-year-old Meenu, 12-year-old Dhiru, 42-year-old Lalit, 12-year-old Shivam and 38-year-old suicide was found from the house.

Police are yet to establish any connection between the 11 deaths and the recent gang war, but said they were investigating all possibilities.

The family migrated to the capital from Rajasthan about two decades ago and police were trying to get in touch with relatives there.

A 77-year old woman was found on the floor, while her two sons and their wives, a daughter and five grandchildren, were found hanging.

Disney and Fox Deal Reportedly Near Antitrust Approval

He raised an alarm and people called the police.

"No father can kill his own son ... how would a mother be able to kill her own children?"

Some locals said CCTV cameras in the area could have helped solve the murder.

Chandrakanta, who runs a store nearby, added, "I used to run into all of them off and on".

Police is now awaiting the post-mortem reports of the bodies, which would clear if one of the family members killed the rest and then committed suicide or was it a suicide pact.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said he spoke to area residents, saying that everyone was shocked by the deaths.

Special commissioner of police Sandip Goyal and joint commissioner of police Rajesh Khurana also visited the scene.

"Police are investigating ... let's wait for their investigation to be over", he said.
