After Facebook, Twitter also sold data to Cambridge Analytica

The FBI and the Department of Justice are investigating Cambridge Analytica, the now-defunct data firm involved in a massive data breach in March, The New York Times reported Tuesday.

Facebook has said a Cambridge University lecturer named Aleksandr Kogan collected the data legitimately through a personality-quiz app but then violated Facebook's terms by sharing the information with Cambridge Analytica, a firm later hired by the Trump presidential campaign during the 2016 United States election. However, their request was turned down by the myPersonality app team in 2013 because of the company's political ambitions. Check back for updates.

Facebook has failed to fully answer 39 questions submitted by United Kingdom members of parliament that aim to explore the social network's approach to data privacy and fake news, according to the parliamentary committee charged with investigating the matter. Alexander Kogan who is at the heart of the Cambridge Analytica situation was also listed on this project as a collaborator until 2014.

With Gallagher disqualified and now four more quitting their positions, there will be a total of five by-elections coming up. The UK Home Office did not register her renunciation until August, more than a month after the election.

The personality quiz app "myPersonality", a feat of Cambridge University academics, has been alleged of sharing user responses to researchers at companies including Facebook, Google, Microsoft and Yahoo using untrustworthy mediums. Archibong said, "There is a lot more work to be done to find all the apps that may have misused people's Facebook data - and it will take time". While this is yet another problem for Facebook that is already trying to deal with an eerily similar Cambridge Analytica data misuse scandal, no one over at Facebook HQ is going to lose their sleep since they are making more money than ever.

A new report by New Scientist reveals that another Facebook app has been in a hoodwink spree for the last few years by exposing "intimate" details of about three million users. The company said that the payouts could go as high as $40,000, depending on the impact of each report, though there are no specific limitations set.

Tech-Giant Facebook has suspended roughly 200 apps from its platform as a part of the ongoing investigation. The harm to a user finally depends on how much he/she engages in a social networking site and the amount of information he/she shares.
