Saints' Ingram suspended 4 games for National Football League substance violation

New Orleans does have a capable replacement in the electrifying Alvin Kamara, who was named the NFL Rookie of the Year last season.

Ingram finished his 2017 season with 230 carries for 1,124 yards and 12 touchdowns.

The Saints' Mark Ingram is heading into a contract year, and Tuesday brought news that it will start off in one of the worst ways possible: on a four-game suspension.

Ingram, who set career highs by rushing for 1,124 yards and 12 touchdowns last season, will not be eligible to rejoin the team's active roster until October 1.

Ingram has played seven seasons for the Saints, amassing 5,362 yards and 44 touchdowns.

Its goal is to launch a long-haul hydrogen-electric hybrid truck as early as 2020 with help from German manufacturing giant Bosch. The facility where it will manufacture the trucks does not yet exist, and apparently, neither does the money for it.

The New Orleans Saints' loss has become the Atlanta Falcons' gain. But now he's going to miss the first four games of the 2018 regular season.

The NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Ingram hasn't been present for the team's OTAs and the knowledge on an impending ban is why the Saints haven't attempted to trade him this offseason. New Orleans could look to free agency at a back like Orleans Darkwa to add another powerful back for the first four weeks of the season to avoid putting too large a workload on Kamara.

The former Heisman Trophy victor was a first-round draft pick in 2011.

Ingram is coming off his two most productive campaigns, breaking the 1,000 rushing yard mark in both campaigns while playing in every game over that span.
