What to expect from Google I/O 2018

What to expect from Google I/O 2018

Google is all set to commence its 2018 edition of I/O Developer Conference (Google I/O 2018) tomorrow, at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California.

Google and JBL are buddying up to create a one of a kind, hybrid soundbar that is powered by Android TV. Leading up to this year's show, Google already announced that it will be investing in start-ups that use the Google Assistant ecosystem-an announcement that would have been flawless for the I/O stage-so Google must have even cooler things talk about at the keynote. As we saw at I/O previous year, Google is working with specific vehicle brands to integrate the best of Android Auto into the native interface for some cars, meaning those cars essentially run on Android, but without needing your phone to work. Android P, on the other hand, appears to focus on improvements to visual elements and interface design.

Google has revealed a revamped version of Android Auto, its in-car companion for smartphones. It also won't require owning an Android phone to use.

While Google does not charge hardware manufacturers for Android, it expects consumers to use new gadgets to continue using its search product, watch videos on YouTube and buy content from its Play Store. Moreover, Flutter will also be the app platform for Google's new Fuschia so we are definitely going to hear a lot more about in the future.

Instead of Volvo's traditional navigation, it'll use the wildly popular Google Maps.

Volvo said its next-generation Sensus system would be ready "in a couple years".

Liam Fox accuses Lords of trying to block Brexit
Dr Fox, one of the most committed Brexiteers in Cabinet, was scathing about the Lords vote - one of three defeats on Monday night. Fox said on Tuesday: "I don't think there is a customs union that could ever be acceptable".

Following its announcement of an Android-based infotainment system a year ago, Volvo is taking another step toward integrating its tech with Google. Let us know your thoughts below. Google says that the JBL Link Bar is the "first in a series of hybrid devices that delivers a full Assistant speaker and Android TV experience".

This annually developer conference is home to a load of announcements about a wide variety of Google's products and services, but one of the core headlines during the opening keynote is always been Android.

Volvo announced Monday that its next infotainment system will integrate more popular features from Google, including Google Maps, Play Store, and Google Assistant.

Google will be demoing Link Bar at I/O this week, so we'll report on new information as we receive it.

Even though it was released in 2015, the Pixel C is still one of the better Android tablets ever made, mainly because most Android tablets are pretty bad.

This is the time of the year when Google pulls out all the stops to showcase how its software is smarter and more forward-looking than the products from its rivals Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Microsoft.
