Liverpool Assistant Coach To Miss Roma Clash

Liverpool Assistant Coach To Miss Roma Clash

Liverpool are so well-drilled in Klopp's fluid 4-3-3 system that the loss of Buvac is unlikely to materially effect their season, with just two Premier League outings and potentially two more Champions League spins to come.

Like Buvac and Klopp, Ayesteran was perceived as crucial to the club's success under Benitez and the club never managed to replicate the heights they reached in the years after his departure.

He reports that Buvac "appears to be on the verge of leaving the club", despite Liverpool themselves insisting he is still their employee.

Buvac met Klopp when they were players at Mainz, where they had a gentleman's agreement that whoever went into management first would take the other as their assistant.

Buvac followed Klopp to Anfield in October 2015 and is highly respected by the players.

Mercedes to implement "short-term" fixes in Baku
For sure when we finish weekends and we haven't delivered the way we feel we should have, it's not a great feeling. We are still the same team that has won in previous years and I think we really can battle out these guys.

It is claimed that the Liverpool manager is looking to make some tweaks to his backroom staff at Anfield, although it is likely that the potential departure of Buvac was never considered part of that.

Merseyside Sports was among multiple media platforms that reported on Monday morning that Jurgen Klopp's right-hand man "will spend some time away" from the club "for personal reasons". It is this behaviour that led to the coach stepping aside following Saturday's goalless draw against Stoke City, rather than any specific argument with Klopp, but the timing of his exit represents a significant setback to Liverpool's preparations for Roma.

"So (this is) huge news and bad news for Liverpool".

Klopp has described Buvac as "the brain" of his coaching team, and the former midfielder's tactical knowledge has been key in developing the high-energy "gegenpressing" style used at both Dortmund and Liverpool.
