Moon and top DPRK leader Kim Jong Un are set to hold their first summit meeting in the South Korean side of the border village on Friday.

In the most detailed direct reference to the process by the North so far, the official KCNA news agency said Kim will "open-heartedly discuss. all the issues arising in improving inter-Korean relations and achieving peace, prosperity and reunification of the Korean peninsula".

The wrongful-death suit was filed in U.S. district court at a diplomatically delicate time, just weeks ahead of an expected meeting between the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, and Donald Trump.

Seoul says North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon-Jae-in will plant a tree together and inspect an honor guard after Kim walks across the border for the leaders' historic summit.

A tentative thaw began earlier this year with North Korean participation in the Winter Olympics in South Korea's Pyeongchang.

Kim and Trump are expected to meet in late May or June, with Trump saying on Thursday he was considering several possible dates and venues.

After meeting with Bolton, Chung said his meeting with the White House security advisor was very substantive and helpful, adding that Seoul and Washington agreed to closely cooperate for the success of the U.S. -DPRK summit.

Also on the agenda for Friday's meeting is replacing the current armistice between South and North Korea with a formal peace agreement - a goal long shared by both nations.

Trump has eviscerated the North for its treatment of Warmbier, raising his death last fall during speeches at the United Nations in NY and to the South Korea general assembly in Seoul.

Huge banners have been displayed across the South Korean capital of Seoul proclaiming "Peace, a new start" amid rumors the two leaders could discuss signing an official peace treaty finally ending the Korean War. September 3: North Korea conducts its sixth and most powerful nuclear test, which it says was a detonation of a thermonuclear warhead designed for ICBMs. "Peace is as hard if not more hard than denuclearization". The summit will conclude with the leaders signing an agreement and delivering a joint statement before dinner. Every past nominee to get a roll call vote since at least the Carter administration received 85 or more yes votes in the Senate, with the exception of Trump's first secretary of state, Rex Tillerson, who got 56. August 15: Moon in a televised speech says Seoul will "put everything on the line to prevent another war on the Korean Peninsula" and that the North Korean nuclear problem should "absolutely be solved peacefully". "I never gave up anything", Trump repeated.

Then Pyongyang stepped back in 2007 to welcome the South's participation when former North Korean leader Kim Jong Il and former South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun met for the second-ever summit.

"I don't even know if he is dead or alive", he said. Trump, who would be the first sitting United States president to meet with a North Korean leader, said that the gathering with Kim could happen in late May or early June. He refers to Kim as "Rocket Man" and says he's "on a suicide mission for himself." September 22: "Kim accuses Trump of "mentally deranged behavior".
