NBA playoffs wrap: Spurs avoid sweep; LeBron James wills Cavaliers past Pacers

On Sunday, the Golden State Warriors failed to sweep the San Antonio Spurs on their home court.

The Spurs dug deep, defended and came away with a much deserved win on Sunday afternoon over Golden State, 103-90, in Game 4 of their first round playoff series. LaMarcus Aldridge led the team with 22 points and 10 rebounds, Rudy Gay added 14 points while Dejounte Murray chipped in with 12 points.

Stephen Curry's inability to make it for the Golden State Warriors' post-season first round playoff clash was confirmed by coach Steve Kerr nearly immediately after he sustained a grade-two MCL sprain to his left knee during their 106-94 win over the Atlanta Hawks on March 23.

That question was posed to Golden State's Draymond Green, whose response wasn't quite as good as his facial expressions.

The Warriors started Game 4 with a shot clock violation on their first offensive possession and six additional turnovers in the first four-and-a-half minutes of the first quarter.

Head to head, the home team is 9-2 ATS in the last 11 meetings, the Spurs are 3-8 ATS in the last 11 meetings overall and 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Golden State. An even more interesting storyline to add to this is the fact that the New Orleans Pelicans, who the Warriors would play in round two, just wrapped up a clean sweep of the Portland Trail Blazers, so they'll get extra time off.

The Warriors are still up, 3-1, in the series and will attempt to close it out on Tuesday in Oakland.

The San Antonio Spurs are not going home just yet, while the Cleveland Cavaliers drew level in the National Basketball Association playoffs on Sunday. It was an underwhelming performance from Quinn Cook (4 points), who happens to be one of the only Warrior players besides Durant or Klay Thompson who can shoot and space the floor adequately, so they really had no choice but to run the offense through Durant hero ball late in the game. Boston's breakout guard has had two good games this series, and two underachieving games. "It sounds like you're asking me to write their obituary, which I'm not going to do".

The Spurs jumped out to a 14-point half-time lead, but quickly watched it evaporate in the third quarter.

"I can't put a timetable on it", Kerr said.

At the same time, bad habits are hard to break.

Turnover issues reared their ugly head early on for Warriors, as the Spurs scored their first 10 points off Warriors turnovers. So, to follow that, LaMarcus Aldridge hit a 3-pointer to keep this game at a 12-point distance. Durant made two pull-up jumpers and then a 3-pointer that sliced the lead to 88-86 with 5:57 remaining.

Spurs: Ginobili played in his 217th playoff game, breaking a tie with Shaquille O'Neal for sixth in league history. Celtics won the two games he scored over 20 points, but lost the two he didn't.

If Leonard makes it known that he wants to leave this summer, San Antonio would probably trade him for draft picks and prospects to kick-start a lengthy rebuild.
