Taleban claims deadly vehicle bomb attack in Kabul

Two civilians were killed and three others were wounded in the attack, Danish said.

A Taliban suicide vehicle bomber has detonated explosives near to a compound for foreign security contractors in the Afghan capital, Kabul, officials said.

Deputy Interior Ministry spokesman Nasrat Rahimi said the attacker "detonated himself before reaching the target".

Interior Ministry spokesman Najib Danesh said all those killed and wounded in the explosion were civilians, with no casualties among the contractors.

The statement quoted Janjua as announcing his country's strong support for the Afghan government peace offer to the Taliban and said Islamabad was committed to cooperation in this regard. The blast happened at a time when many people were driving to work.

The deadly attack - the latest in a series in the war-weary Afghan capital - comes days after the top USA general in Afghanistan said protecting the city was a priority for foreign forces.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the blast that hit the Despechari area in eastern Kabul in the morning on March 17.

Sanders said the president hasn't abandoned the proposal, but said there is little support for it on Capitol Hill. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, a Republican, has not scheduled debate for any gun-related bills.

"All occupiers were killed", Mujahid said.

Saturday's suicide assault comes days after General John Nicholson, who leads USA and North Atlantic Treaty Organisation forces in Afghanistan, said protecting the city was a priority for foreign forces.

The deceased people were all civilians, reports said.

Today's assault comes amid growing pressure on the Taliban to accept the Afghan government's offer of peace talks to end the 16-year conflict.

"They have done the bare minimum to appear responsive to our requests", the official added, citing the need to prod the Taliban toward the negotiating table and round-up militants.

The group has been resurgent since the withdrawal of US-led North Atlantic Treaty Organisation combat troops at the end of 2014, taking back territory and devastating Afghanistan's beleaguered security forces.
