Karti Chidambaram produced before Delhi court by CBI

Senior counsels Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Karti Chidambaram, told the court that they were apprehending sequential arrests of their client by the ED after he is freed from the custody of the CBI, which is separately probing the case.

Before commencing the proceedings on Karti, the court extended the judicial custody of his CA, S Bhaskararaman, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in the case, till 22 March.

The apex court has also asked the high court to hear the matter on Friday and decide in accordance with law.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had produced him in the court appealing for six-day custody after the previous three-day custody expired on Friday following which the court ordered a three-day extension of the custody. It was also alleged that Karti was not cooperating with the investigating agency. Karti is accused of receiving Rs 10 lakh in 2007 to clear foreign investment worth Rs 305 for INX Media. He's alleged to have received a kickback of $ 7,00,000 using his father's influence as the union minister. CBI will file its reply on bail plea of Karti Chidambaram on March 14.

Bears to transition tag Kyle Fuller
This doesn't prevent them from working out a long-term contract, which general manager Ryan Pace says is still a priority . The team surely has the capability to match any offer thrown Fuller's way when free agency starts next week.

An FIR, filed on May 15 previous year, had alleged irregularities in the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance to INX Media for receiving Rs 305 crore in overseas funds in 2007 when P Chidambaram was Union finance minister.

Karti Chidambaram was confronted with Indrani Mukherjea in Mumbai last week. They said the ED has neither an FIR nor a complaint to act against Karti, just on the basis of an enforcement case information report (ECIR), an internal document not available to them. The investigative agency had sought to remand him to 15-day custody for further questioning, which would include confronting him with evidence.

According to INX Media co-owners Indrani and Peter Mukerjea, now involved in the murder case of Indrani's daughter Sheena Bora, they paid Karti Chidambaram $7 lakh to secure the foreign investment clearance.
