Ex-Google Recruiter Sues Company For Anti-White, Anti-Asian Hiring Bias

The critics of Google's effort to promote workforce diversity now include one of its own former recruiters, who claims in a lawsuit he was sacked because he didn't toe the line on rejecting white and Asian male job candidates.

The lawsuit filed by Mr. Wilberg and people familiar with the hiring practices allege that since at least 2016, YouTube recruiters had hiring quotas or targets for "diversity candidates", including black, Hispanic and female candidates. Which one is it?

In a statement, Google said that it would "vigorously defend this lawsuit", adding that it has a "clear policy to hire candidates based on their merit, not their identity".

YouTube's diversity hiring practices are being questioned. Many have adopted policies and programs created to encourage more balanced hiring, not only to right past discrimination but for their own economic advantage: According to management consultancy McKinsey, diverse companies deliver better financial results. Last year, Google engineer James Damore was sacked because he wrote a memo that was widely circulated amongst employees that conservative white men were "ostracized" in favor of minorities and women.

Muhammad was questioned by police and a civil administration officer and then released, the representative said. He is scheduled to have reconstructive surgery on his skull next week.

In his lawsuit, Wilberg said that Youtube set diversity quotas, and he was told to ignore applicants who were not female or from underrepresented racial groups (black and Latino).

Google said in a statement to the Wall Street Journal that the lawsuit had no merit and that no quotas were being used. Damore withdrew the complaint that he filed earlier with the National Labor Relations Board after it was found that Google did not override any law while firing him. He also claimed in the lawsuit that he was sacked because of his complaints that he was being discriminated against for being a White male.

About two months ago, former Google engineer James Damore made headlines after filing a lawsuit against the huge tech company for allegedly discriminating against white male conservatives. In the lawsuit, Loretta Lee, a former software engineer, noted that she faced lewd comments, pranks, and even physical violence from colleagues.

A former YouTube employee has filed a discrimination suit against the world's largest video site, alleging that its policy was to hire zero white or Asian men for tech positions. And, this has put the search giant amid the nation's culture wars.
