Drivers may see prices at the pump start to climb in the next few weeks as refinery maintenance season begins. Local prices remain at a four-year high for this time of year.

The latest price drop comes courtesy of numerous market factors, including the trickle-down effect of sharp declines in crude oil prices two weeks ago, which itself was triggered by increased US shale oil production and the recent stock market correction. The latest data from the EIA shows an annual hike of 29 percent for crude oil exports, and 15 percent for gasoline.
