Fiji edge New Zealand in last-second thriller at Sydney Sevens

New Zealand will play Olympic champion Australia for gold.

Kenya and England collected 10 points each to finish in a tie for seventh place, while All Blacks and Fiji got 13 and 12 points to wind fifth and sixth respectively.

Australia outplayed South Africa right from the kick-off, scoring five tries while keeping the opposition scoreless with aggressive defence. Lachlan Anderson, the player of the final, is 20, as is Tim Anstee with new X-Factor Maurice Longbottom only 23.

"It has been a long journey for us especially when we had to start after the Olympics and had won only one tournament in the last series".

"We put the pieces in place and it's great that we got the reward this weekend".

The other quarter-finals feature Pool B winners Argentina against Pool C runners-up England and South Africa, who topped Pool C, against Kenya.

The Aussies are undefeated in the Sydney 7s but face our arch rivals, New Zealand in a couple of crucial games today.

Pennsylvania Supreme Court Gives Democrats a Boost in 2018 Midterms
The court gave the General Assembly - which remains under Republican control - until February 9 to submit redrawn lines to Gov. The plaintiffs had argued the map violates the Pennsylvania Constitution's guarantees of free expression and equal protection.

The lung-busting defensive effort continued Australia's incredible clean sheet after five games and put them one win away from repeating their World Series round one victory in Dubai.

The Fiji men beat New Zealand and Samoa to top their pool before a heavy 24-7 defeat to the US in the Cup quarter finals and 31-7 loss against the All Blacks Sevens in the playoff for fifth place.

Despite the carnage in the final though‚ the Blitzboks will leave Sydney and head to Hamilton for round four of the 2017/18 World Series on top of the standings with 58 points.

They scored the most tries in the tournament (27) and made the most tackles‚ but that did not result in another title.

But Caslick, who won player of the final and was the world's best player in 2016, believes the steps toward gender parity should include looking at women sharing the best timeslots with the men's games.

The tournament win is Australia's second in a row following victory in Dubai in the series opener and extended their lead in the Women's Seven Series to 10 points over New Zealand, Canada and Russian Federation. I think we'll celebrate tonight and then be very exhausted when we get back to work on Wednesday.
