Looks Like Audiobooks Are Coming to Google Play

The banner may have been a mistake, but it confirms the previous rumours about upcoming launch of audiobooks in the Play Store. But now, things are changing and the Play Store will be adding a special section for the book lovers with Audiobooks.

All that remains is for Google to flip the switch on its end and you'll be able to feed your audiobook obsession through Google Play.

While audiobooks have actually been available on Google Play's music library, there wasn't a specific hub for all those that are already available.

9to5Google reports that a banner seems to have shown up for users using the mobile Google Play app and the desktop version.

According to a banner ad that was spotted inside of Google Play, as well as an APK teardown of an updated Play Books app, audiobooks are coming to Google Play. In both places, the banner states that audiobooks are available and that folks can get 50 percent off their first title.

Intel halts some chip patches as the fixes cause problems
Last week, however, we found out that the issue is affecting patched Ivy Bridge-, Sandy Bridge-, Skylake-, and Kaby Lake-based platforms as well.

As per the findings, the codes basically pointed to audiobooks in the Play Store and to Google Cast functionality.

The Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Voyage models, meanwhile, now do not support Audible, as confirmed by Audible's help center.

The Audiobooks advertising banner on Play Store itself looks very reasonable to assume that the Audiobooks on Play Store will be the reality soon. All the reports suggest that, the giant will soon come up with this dedicated Audiobooks section on the Play Store sometime this quarter.

Separately, a report from Android Police claims that the Google Play Books app would also be updated to include audiobooks. It said that audiobooks and ebooks will be divided into separate tabs.

Offering a clearer way to browse and buy audiobooks would help Google in its ongoing rivalry with Amazon, which owns Audible and recently added audiobook support to its Kindles.
