Four expatriates kidnapped in Kaduna

Security has always been a problem in the country with two Americans and two Canadians kidnapped January 17, 2018.

The confirmation came as Reuters reported two Canadians and two Americans in total were abducted in the state of Kaduna.

There has been an increased spate of kidnappings in Nigeria, where both Nigerians and foreigners have been targeted.

A staff of the company said the expatriates alongside the two police escorts had left Kafanchan for Abuja through Kagarko when they were ambushed by the gunmen.

Kafanchan is about 3-1/2 hours' drive northeast of Abuja.

The officer urged Nigerians to be vigilant and report any suspected persons or group of persons to the appropriate authorities.

The incident occurred around Kagarko, along Kaduna-Abuja road on Tuesday night.

"To protect the privacy of the individuals concerned, further details on this case can not be released", said Global Affairs spokesperson John Babcock said by email.

In October, kidnappers took four Britons in Delta state in the south.

Two German archaeologists were abducted in the region in February a year ago.
