"The lead singer with the Irish band The Cranberries, was in London for a short recording session".

Late night television host James Corden told a personal story of meeting O'Riordan when he was just 15 years old.

"Family members are devastated to hear the breaking news and have requested privacy at this very hard time", the statement concluded.

Their biggest hits, Linger and Zombie, catapulted the Limerick band to arena-filling status and were frequently covered by other artists.

In 2017, the Cranberries' canceled many dates on their Europe and North America tour, with the band citing O'Riordan's ongoing back problems as the cause.

Ms. O'Riordan pleaded guilty to assaulting airport police at Ireland's Shannon Airport in 2014. The close-knit community of Ballybricken were rallying around O'Riordan's "devastated" mother Eileen and six siblings.

O'Riordan, from Friarstown, Kilmallock, Co Limerick, was renowned for her distinctive singing voice.

As Dolores was a renowned singer and songwriter, many of her famous peer have since taken to Twitter to mourn her untimely death.
