Everton in talks with Arsenal over signing Theo Walcott, confirms Sam Allardyce

Everton boss Sam Allardyce has confirmed he wants to sign Arsenal forward Theo Walcott.

The England global has dropped down the pecking order at Arsenal this season as he has made just 15 appearances with his last Premier League start coming in April.

"I think you are all aware of our interest in Theo", Allardyce said.

"If that can all be sorted out, which is hard, then he'd be a great addition". People laugh at us - they see it as a bit of a joke with what's going on at the moment - players don't want to be there. I don't think there's a chance of a loan. "We'll wait and see".

Oddschecker have revealed that in total, 58% of all bets are backing a move to Merseyside, with Allardyce reportedly keen to add to his array of wide talent at the club and the ECHO understands that Walcott is on the club's wanted list.

Despite promising Iwobi would be punished, Wenger started the 21 year-old ahead of Walcott for the trip to Chelsea and also preferred Danny Welbeck to him after deciding to relegate Alexis Sanchez to the substitutes' bench.

"In this window, or in any window, you don't get too optimistic because so many things can happen in a short space of time". 'If that is possible to get over the line I'd be delighted.

But Osman, who spent his entire career at Goodison Park, feels landing Walcott would solve a big problem for Allardyce.

When quizzed on Everton wanting to sign Walcott Wenger said: "I can not tell you much more". We have a good relationship.

However, Arsenal are in no rush to reach a decision over Walcott and according to the BBC, the club want to assess the injury situation in their squad before taking a call on the England worldwide.

Walcott is heavily linked with a move away from Arsenal this month after 12 years in north London.

Wenger straight-batted questions about their interest in Friday's news conference.

"He went in 2006 and we are now in 2018 and he hasn't been since for different reasons".

'You can not give this [assurances] because it's not honest.

"He's a good player, but at the moment nothing is happening", he said.
