Packers Reportedly Find New Defensive Coordinator

The Green Bay Packers have reportedly hired Indianapolis Colts offensive line coach and assistant head coach Joe Philbin as their new offensive coordinator. Pettine was coach of the Cleveland Browns from 2014-15, where he had a record of 10-22. That included a stint as offensive coordinator from 2007-2011 before he landed the Dolphins' job.

It was with the Packers that Philbin had the most success.

The Packers figure to be on the short list of Super Bowl contenders when Rodgers is healthy, but they have won only one Lombardi Trophy since he became their primary quarterback in 2008.

Now he is reunited with Green Bay head coach Mike McCarthy, hoping they can reinvigorate a Packers offense that struggled in 2017. With the Jets from 2009 to 2012, Pettine's defenses ranked first, third, fifth and eighth.

Caller reports himself driving drunk
The call lasted for several minutes and he even claimed he was driving on the wrong side of the road as auto horns could be heard. He then changed the number to "three or four" while also admitting that he had only slept four hours in the last four days.

McCarthy also interviewed three of Capers' defensive assistants for the job: linebackers coach Winston Moss, cornerbacks coach Joe Whitt and safeties coach Darren Perry.

The Packers fired Capers after a 7-9 season ended with Green Bay ranked 22nd in total defense and 26th in points allowed.

A number of names swirled around the open position, including Chicago Bears' defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, Browns defensive coordinator Gregg Williams and the Giants' coordinator, Steve Spagnuolo.
