Former Brazil, AC Milan and Real Madrid star Kaka announces retirement

The unsafe playmaker told Globo TV on Sunday that "the cycle of my career as a player ends here".

Kaka turned down the chance to prolong his playing days with a third spell at AC Milan in order to retire from professional football.

"I needed some time to think and make a very quiet decision, very calm and very conscious of what I would like for my professional life", he said.

The 2007 Ballon d'Or victor confirmed that he would not renew his contract at MLS side Orlando City in October. Upon these news, it seems more likely he will join Milan, and take his first steps towards a management career.

Kaka was a free agent after leaving Orlando in October.

Former Brazil, AC Milan and Real Madrid star Kaka announces retirement

In conclusion Kaka confirmed that he has been in talks with former club Milan stating that: "It's true that recently Milan made me an offer, we will see". A graceful midfielder, Kaka won 92 caps for Brazil. But in the end, he arrived at Real Madrid for 67m euros nearly at the same time with Ronaldo.

Kaka is, nearly notoriously now, the last footballer to win a Ballon d'Or that isn't named Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo and was briefly the world's most expensive footballer, when Real Madrid parted with £59 million for his services, in 2009. He scored 29 goals for his country and featured at three World Cups.

He would return to Milan for one season before moving to MLS in 2014.

However, Kaka said his transition off the pitch wasn't being taken for granted. As a dribbler, he was able to overcome nearly any challenge with a unique sense of speed and precision but what made him so mesmerizing was his uncanny ability to find teammates thanks to his unrivaled vision.

Kaka will however not leave the world of football as a whole stating that: "Now, I will prepare to continue in the world of football, but in another role".
