Flynn: Guilty plea is in best interest of my family and country

As part of Flynn's plea deal he agreed to "cooperate fully, truthfully, completely, and forthrightly" with the special counsel's office.

The retired Army lt. general whined about how "extraordinarily painful" special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian meddling in the election and possible collusion by the Trump campaign had been for him.

He added that his actions "were wrong, and, through my faith in God, I am working to set things right".

"The Statement of the Offense included important new details, including that Flynn was directed by a senior transition official to contact Russian officials in an effort to influence Russia's response to the Obama Administration's imposition of sanctions and the UN Security Council resolution vote on Israeli settlements, and, crucially, that he reported back to transition officials", he said.

During Trump's transition to the White House, Flynn reportedly has a second meeting with Turkish government officials at the 21 Club, an upscale NY restaurant.

Flynn will say that Trump "directed him to make contact with the Russians", flatly contradicting Trump's claim that he had nothing to do with Russia before or after his surprise election.

He was forced to resign that post in February, just weeks after the president took office, due to public concerns over his contacts with Russian Federation.

Yates said she had had "two in-person meetings and one phone call" with the White House counsel, Don McGahn, in January about Flynn.

Flynn denies that he discussed US sanctions against Russian Federation with Kislyak.

The officer, who was taking his child to school at the time, made a decision to pull Rojas after noticing the wild driving. Rojas' shots missed the officer's son, AP reports, but ended up hitting the officer three times, according to police.

Warner, the ranking member on the Senate Intelligence Committee, was asked whether he believes Flynn will implicate President Trump.

Flynn didn't speak in court, other than to say he would plead guilty.

Prosecutors also cite an earlier December meeting, in which Flynn asked Kislyak to delay or defeat a UN Security Council resolution. The rest of the 15-nation council, including Russian Federation, voted unanimously against Israel.

Flynn, responding to questions from the Washington Post, once again denies any discussions with Kislyak about sanctions.

"The false statements involved mirror the false statements to White House officials which resulted in his resignation in February of this year", Cobb said.

This guilty plea also comes on the heels of a new report about the President's efforts to silence the independent, bipartisan Senate investigation into ties between Trump associates and Russian Federation. The next day, Trump met privately with then-FBI Director James B. Comey.

Mueller's investigators have interviewed members of Trump's family, his top advisors, business partners and lawyers over their actions.

During the Republican National Convention in July 2016, when Trump was officially nominated as the GOP's candidate, Flynn led the entire convention in a repeated chant of "Lock her up!" Mueller has already indicted Manafort, Trump's campaign manager, and Gates, his deputy campaign manager and a longtime Manafort associate, on charges involving money laundering and other offenses, and it's not known whether Manafort and Gates might also decide to tell all to Mueller in exchange for a deal.

Donald Trump and Michael Flynn speak at a campaign rally in Colorado on October 18, 2016. This part of the circle closed Friday, as Mueller obtained a guilty plea from the man Trump had sought to protect from investigation.
