Robinho denies sexual assault after 9-year jail sentence

The forward, 33, has reportedly been found guilty of sexual assault while at a Milan disco on January 22, 2013.

Prosecutors had requested jail terms of 10 years, reported the ANSA news agency, and one of Robinho's alleged friends, Ricardo Falco, another Brazilian, was sentenced to nine years.

The Brazilian has the right of appeal and the sentence will not be enforced until that process has been completed, according to Sky Sports.

According to a report by Sky Sports, the 33-year-old star is now in Brazil, playing for Atletico Mineiro.

It added: "All legal steps are now being taken with regards to this decision by a court of first instance". Brazil does not extradite its own citizens when they are sentenced in other countries.
