House GOP chairmen announce probe of Obama's Justice Dept

House Republicans are launching an investigation into Russian Federation and an Obama-era uranium deal, the intelligence committee's chairman announced Tuesday.

In a statement Tuesday, a lawyer for Fusion GPS calls the subpoena from the chairman of the House intelligence committee "overly broad" and without a legitimate goal.

The White House is insisting that the Justice Department should investigate former FBI Director James Comey for alleged crimes in the aftermath of his termination.

In a C-SPAN interview Monday, Clinton said the new focus on the uranium deal is "baloney" and evidence that the Trump administration is anxious and trying to deflect attention away from the ongoing probes into the Trump team's alleged ties to the Kremlin. "Our job is to get the facts. and we're going to do just that".

"Seven years ago this month, I raised these objections with the treasury secretary who said they were being fully investigated and we want to see what happened to that inquiry", said King. Nunes, now the subject of an ethics inquiry for his actions, subsequently handed over the reins of the committee's investigation of Russian election meddling to Rep. K. Michael Conaway (R-Tex.), but he has not recused himself from the inquiry.

In 2009, the state-owned Russian nuclear company Rosatom started buying shares and then sought to assume a majority ownership in Uranium One, a Toronto, Canada-based industry with United States interests.

Song Review: Taylor Swift's 'Gorgeous'
In the past, Swift's references to eye color have been a veritable decoder ring to real-life lyrical assignations. Just before midnight Friday morning Taylor Swift released yet another single, " Gorgeous ".

The Hill reported last week that before the sale was approved, the Federal Bureau of Investigation had evidence indicating that Russian officials had "routed millions of dollars to the U.S. created to benefit" the Clinton Foundation, and that the Obama administration approved the deal even though the Federal Bureau of Investigation had evidence that Russian nuclear industry officials were engaged in bribery and extortion "designed to grow Vladimir Putin's atomic energy business inside the United States". Clinton, as secretary of state, headed one of the nine government agencies making up CFIUS.

The decisions include the FBI's handling of Hillary Clinton's email probe and its timeline, as well as the FBI's decision not to announce the investigation into possible collusion between then-candidate Donald Trump and Russian Federation.

The new investigation from Nunes and Gowdy is sure to further inflame the simmering partisan tensions on the intelligence committee over the investigation into Russian election interference.

But a state department official said at the time she "never intervened" in the committee review and the Clinton campaign said that she did not participate in the deal's approval. He made those allegations after visiting the White House, leading Democrats to accuse him of coordinating his efforts with the Trump administration.

The investigation centres on Rosatom, the state-owned Russian nuclear energy company, which began buying shares in Uranium One - a Toronto based enterprise with interests in the USA - in 2009.
