While addressing the event, Nitish Kumar demanded that the Patna University should be given the status of a Central University.

Elaborating further he said 20 universities from all across the country will be selected and the government will fund them for their transformation. For nearly 17 years, the two parties remained partners in Bihar, but in mid-2013, the JD (U) severed ties over elevation of Modi as BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate. He announced that top 10 private and top 10 public universities will be given Rs.10,000 crore in the next five years.

He said that he considers it his honour to visit Patna University and be among the students.

PM Narendra Modi also spoke about the current and former education system of India.

Summary: He said the road construction projects worth Rs53,000 crore out of the Rs55,000 crore sanctioned for road sector in the Rs1.25 lakh crore special package for Bihar had either been completed or were underway.Without taking his name, the PM also took a dig at RJD chief Lalu Prasad for poor condition of roads in Bihar during his tenure.
