Rex Tillerson assures that President Trump hasn't 'castrated' him: 'I checked'

Republican Bob Corker, who previously called Trump's volatile White House an "adult day care centre" and warned the president could start World War Three, said Trump's tweets dismissing Tillerson's negotiation efforts were narrowing America's options on dealing with countries like Iran and North Korea.

On October 4, NBC News reported that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson almost resigned over the summer following a series of tense moments with President Trump.

The choice he was referring to, according to The Post, was deciding between conflict with North Korea or allowing Iran to develop nuclear weapons by pulling out of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, commonly known as the Iran nuclear deal.

"As I indicated earlier when I was asked about that, I'm not going to deal with that kind of petty stuff", Tillerson told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union" on Sunday.

"I think on North Korea we have completely unified the global community", Tillerson said.

Despite Tillerson's attempts to show he's in lockstep with the president, the NBC News report of his "moron" comment infuriated Trump, who privately bashed his secretary of state to associates and publicly challenged Tillerson to an IQ test.

Donald Trump WILL visit United Kingdom within months as trip finally confirmed
It was immediately criticised as a breach of convention , as state visits are usually reserved for a president's second term. May invited Trump for a state visit during a trip to Washington in January, shortly after he was inaugurated as president.

Senator Corker made the claim in a Washington Post interview last week amid a public spat with the president. The secretary of state insisted that he has a strong working relationship with the president without any name-calling. He makes a decision, there's a mutual respect, and they go forward.

But Tillerson said suggestions that he's been undermined have no basis in fact.

"I know the appearance of it certainly looks like there's sometimes disunity", Tillerson said on CBS' "Face the Nation".

"He has assembled a very, I think, unconventional team", Tillerson continued. "But it's the first part" - the "castration" of Tillerson - "that I am most exercised about".

They men also disagreed on the nation's Afghanistan strategy, which was discussed in the July Pentagon meeting, though Trump was persuaded by Tillerson and Secretary of Defense James Mattis to maintain the United States' presence in the region. Sen.
