3.4 magnitude natural disaster detected in North Korea - China quake Networks Center

North Korea's neighbors said Saturday they have detected a shallow 3.4-magnitude natural disaster in North Korea.

A magnitude 3.4 tremor detected in North Korea thought to be a "suspected explosion", China's natural disaster administration said.

The flight, which was disclosed shortly before North Korea's foreign minister was due to address the United Nations, was the farthest north of the demilitarized zone separating North and South Korea that any US fighter jet or bomber has flown in the 21st century, the Pentagon said.

But on the fringes of the United Nations meeting this week, North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho upped the tensions further, telling reporters Pyongyang might now consider detonating a hydrogen bomb outside its territory.

The head of the nuclear test monitoring agency CTBTO said on Saturday that analysts were "looking at unusual seismic activity of a much smaller magnitude" than the Sept 3 test in North Korea.

The natural disaster could be the result of a cave in following the test earlier this month.

"This event occurred in the area of the previous North Korean nuclear tests", the USGS said.

A US intelligence official and USA -based non-governmental experts said their initial assessment was that the quake was either natural or connected to North Korea's latest and largest nuclear test on Sept.3, and not caused by a new nuclear test.

That is about 20km (12m) south-east of where the North conducted its sixth and most powerful nuclear test on September 3, an official from the Korea Meteorological Administration in Seoul said. "So as of now, we are categorising this as a natural quake".

He said such a test could pose a danger to shipping and aircraft, even if the North declared a "keep out" zone, and would pose a risk to people if something went wrong.

Imran Tahir on the other hand is arguably the most lethal bowler in World XI's arsenal. Pakistan reached the 50-run mark in 7.2 overs and crossed the 100 mark in 12.2 overs.

The agency said it was analysing the nature of the quake and its initial view was that it was a natural tremor because no sound waves specific to man-made earthquakes were detected.

North Korea has launched dozens of missiles this year, several of them flying over Japan, as it accelerates a weapons programme aimed at enabling it to target the United States with a nuclear-tipped missile.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un (L) and US President Donald Trump (R).

"It could be a natural quake that really was man-made as the nuclear test would have transferred a lot of stress", he said.

North Korea's weakest nuclear test, its first one, conducted in 2006, generated a magnitude 4.3 quake.

A secondary tremor detected after that test could have been caused by the collapse of a tunnel at the mountainous site, experts said at the time.

North Korea's official news agency has ridiculed the recent United Nations sanctions as "the dirty excrement of the reactionaries of history".

The North accuses the United States, which has 28,500 troops in South Korea, of planning to invade and regularly threatens to destroy it and its Asian allies.

North Korea's foreign minister said this week that his country could test a powerful nuclear weapon over the Pacific Ocean in response to President Donald Trump's threats of military action.
