Fla. man gets free generator after giving away last one in store

According to NBC News, Pam Brekke was shopping at an Orlando-area Lowe's on Thursday, searching for a generator.

Then she thought she'd caught a lucky break: a Lowe's store 30 miles away in Orlando had gotten a surprise shipment of generators. Her father is ill and requires oxygen.

Brekke, whose father uses oxygen therapy and relies on electricity to run his machine, was next in line for a generator when she watched workers load the final unit onto the cart of the customer in front of her, sending her into a sudden panic.

As luck would have it, when it was Brekke's turn to claim a generator, she learned there were no more to be bought, that she had missed out by just one customer.

Moments after Brekke broke down in tears, Nancy Alvarez, a reporter for WFTV-TV, captured a Good Samaritan's act of kindness.

Santiago couldn't say much to Brekke because of a language barrier, but that didn't stop him from helping someone in need.

Mr Santiago put his arms around Ms Brekke and they shared a warm embrace as he reassured her everything would be okay.

"It's what we need right now", Rodriguez said.

Friday, Santiago got his generator for free from Lowe's. "It's okay. No worry for them". "He's helping our family".

Brekke said it's encouraging to see people help one another during such a stressful time.
