Minn. Teen Missing for almost a Month Found, 3 Arrested

A Mankato man is accused of assaulting a 15-year-old Alexandria girl who was kidnapped and held captive for 29 days.

The Alexandria Police Department says teenager Jasmine Block, who was missing for almost a month before being found on Tuesday, was kidnapped.

Jasmine Block, 15, of Alexandria, Minn., made it safely across the lake before running onto a property where she received help, CBS Minnesota reported. The girl identified herself and asked him to call 911, Alexandria Police Chief Richard Wyffels said in a statement.

There, Barker allegedly restrained her with zip ties and he and Holby assaulted her, while threatening her with weapons. Police said Powers visited Barker and Holby some weeks into the situation and became part of the process.

When Jasmine arrived at Thomas Barker's home in Carlos, however, she encountered a "nightmare", says Alexandria Police Chief Rick Wyffels. Incredible people. And the victim is now safe with her mother'.

The mother reiterated her request for privacy, writing that their family had been apart for four weeks and need their space.

A kidnapped Minnesota teen bravely swam across a lake to safety from her abductors after almost a month in captivity.

Block was able to make her escape after the kidnappers left her alone Tuesday, officials said. Police said the girl was assaulted by Barker and the other suspects throughout her time in captivity.

"This is an unbelievable young woman", Wyffels said of Block. "She has a lot of strength". The teen had spent the day boating with neighbors, but returned home with a migraine. Her mother told Dateline that on that night, Jasmine had been resting on the couch while she left to tend to a family emergency.

"Before she even said any words (to the man who found her), he already knew what this story was all about", Wyffels said.

Three suspects were arrested in her disappearance. The suspects are being held in the Douglas County Jail on probable cause kidnapping, false imprisonment, and assault. She reportedly went to several home for help, but no one answered, so she swam across Thompson Lake.

The teen has since been reunited with her family. "Incredible people. And the victim is now safe with her mother and all of us in this community are proud of her". The two got in the farmer's auto and were headed to Elbow Lake when Block recognized one of the vehicles of the suspect.
