Miley Cyrus Pledges $500000 to Help Victims of Hurricane Harvey

Miley Cyrus was moved to tears on "Ellen" while trying to talk about Hurricane Harvey's destruction in Houston. Cyrus told the 59-year-old host she's donating $500,000 to Hurricane Harvey relief. "It just really makes me upset so I really hope people know.I couldn't fake it", she said to DeGeneres, explaining her emotions were very raw and real.

Cyrus insisted she didn't have to think twice about using her celebrity status for good.

"I will be doing a special "Orions Rise" show in Boston, and ALL proceeds will go towards Hurricane Harvey Relief", the Houston native said on Instagram.

Harvey roared ashore late last week as the most powerful hurricane to hit Texas in a half-century but has now been downgraded to a tropical depression. She founded the Happy Hippie Foundation to support LGBTQ and homeless youth, and is now focusing the Foundation's efforts on Harvey disaster relief as well.

In a statement, the singer wrote, "I'm committed to partnering with organizations on the ground in Houston and making contributions to uplift the city that raised me with so much love".
