Calls For Removal Of Confederate Monuments In Baltimore

On Monday, Pugh told The Sun that it was her "intention to move forward with the removal of the statues" and said she was frustrated that Rawlings-Blake left the work undone, especially considering she had held on to a recommendation to remove two statues for nearly a year.

Now, numerous other cities are considering removing their own Confederate monuments.

The mayor's request comes following a weekend death in Charlottesville, Virginia when a vehicle plowed into a group of counter protesters at a white nationalist rally.

The Baltimore Sun reports that Michael E. Busch said Monday the monument to former Chief Justice Roger B. Taney (TAW nee) "doesn't belong" at the State House in Annapolis.

Pugh says her office is "looking at all four of them".

Next Episode of 'Game of Thrones' Leaks Following HBO Hack
No connection between this leak and this week's HBO breach has been stated outright, but it's not hard to imagine they're related. The leaked episode, "The Spoils of War ", made the rounds on the spoiler-embracing Reddit community r/freefolk on Friday morning.

Pugh also referenced a meeting she said she had with New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu about Confederate monuments removal.

Introduced in the early morning hours of Monday, Scott's resolution, citing the white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, calls for "the immediate destruction of all Confederate Monuments in Baltimore".

"Relocating these statues and explaining them is the right thing to do".

What was already a contentious, violent rally became murderous Saturday, when a 20-year-old white supremacist named James Alex Fields allegedly drove his auto into a crowd of counter-protesters, killing one and injuring at least 19 others. We hope other cities follow Lexington's example.

According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, Gray announced in a statement he would be asking the Lexington-Fayette County Urban County Council to ask the state military commission for permission to take down the statues.
