Microsoft launches Surface Plus upgrade plan

Microsoft (MSFT) announced on Tuesday that it was starting a new Surface Plus program in the US aimed at spreading the cost of the tablets over two years.

The plan encompasses every model of Surface, including the Surface Pro tablet/laptop hybrid, the Surface Studio PC, the Surface Book high-end laptop, and the new student-focused Surface Laptop.

The gist of the program is that, when you buy any Surface, you'll have the option to enroll in a 24-month repayment plan at 0% interest. In the United States, the Microsoft Store listing states that they'll be released on August 21; in the UK, buyers will have to wait a bit longer, as deliveries aren't due to begin until August 24.

The Surface Plus program will launch today at 12:00 pm EDT. Once you buy a Surface device with Surface Plus, you can choose to upgrade to the latest Surface device after 1 and a half years of usage.

Microsoft's Surface laptops are extremely choice, but they also carry a premium.
