Lakers Rumors: Los Angeles Considering Adding PGs Rajon Rondo Or Tyler Ennis

General manager Rob Pelinka has said the Lakers are firmly committed to preserving enough cap space in 2018 to sign two free agents to max contracts.

The Nets and Los Angeles Lakers have been linked with free-agent guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and there could be some movement this week.

The Pistons indicated they were ready to move on from Caldwell-Pope, their first-round draft pick (No. 8 overall) in 2013, when they traded for Avery Bradley last week. Then, the Wizards matched their offer on Porter, and the Pistons renounced the rights to Caldwell-Pope.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is another example of just how tight the market is in National Basketball Association free agency this year.

The Lakers have also reportedly been interested in free agent point guard Rajon Rondo this off-season as well.

NBA Free Agency: Where should Kentavious Caldwell-Pope sign?

Nwaba's defense caught the Lakers attention while he played with the Los Angeles D-Fenders.

The eighth overall pick in the 2013 draft, Caldwell-Pope will sit out the first two games of the 2017-18 season after being suspended by the National Basketball Association following a March arrest for DWI. As our own Jonathan Adams broke down, the new-look Lakers roster features two new faces projected in the starting lineup and an interesting amount of depth as well. He averaged 13.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.2 steals and 2.0 triples on 39.9 percent shooting last season, returning 9th-round value in standard leagues. He's younger than Rondo, but doesn't bring the veteran presence the Lakers are searching for. Jordan Clarkson should go back to his sixth man role with Caldwell-Pope in the fold. If he continues to improve his 3-point shot, he could become one of the NBA's better two-way players.

The Lakers would get an A-plus grade here if they can land both players on one-year deals.

The person who told the AP about the contract spoke on condition of anonymity Tuesday night because the deal hasn't been announced.
