Fake TIME magazine covers displayed at Donald Trump's golf club locations

Fake TIME magazine covers displayed at Donald Trump's golf club locations

Time magazine asked President Donald Trump's businesses to remove several fake Time covers hanging in his clubs.

The cover, dated March 1, 2009, was never published by the magazine at any point, a spokeswoman for Time confirmed.

Meanwhile two of the same secondary headlines were featured on an actual cover featuring Kate Winslet's image, from March 2, 2009. That's because, as The Post's David Farenthold uncovered Tuesday, there was no edition of Time magazine from that date.

The Trump Organization has not responded to requests for comment from The Post, and when they contacted White House deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders to find out why the clubs displayed a fake cover, she replied that they "couldn't comment on the decor at Trump Golf clubs one way or another".

Motion on Throne Speech could topple government this week
Just one speaker stood for the NDP - Carole James. "I would say it's a problem of character and ethics". The BC Liberals, she said, would work with the private sector to build social and accessible housing.

In fact the cover on display at Trump's clubs, observed recently by a reporter visiting one of the properties, contains several small but telling mistakes.

Employees at Trump's Turnberry club in Scotland told the Post that the cover was added to a wall after Trump purchased the course in 2014, but it was taken down a few weeks ago. Similarly, the Ireland golf course reported that the cover in their establishment was moved from a restaurant area to a manager's office.

"I think I was on the cover of Time magazine twice in my life and like six times in the last number of months", Trump said in July 2016.

While speaking at Central Intelligence Agency headquarters in January, he falsely claimed, "I think we have the all-time record in the history of Time Magazine". In the sort of sloppy incompetence we've come to expect from Trump's administration, even this fake cover gets all the basics wrong, including the magazine's typeface, borders, and cover line placements.
