Johanna Konta recovers from wobble to beat Lesia Tsurenko in Aegon Classic

Johanna Konta recovers from wobble to beat Lesia Tsurenko in Aegon Classic

The British number one had little time to adjust to the courts at the Edgbaston Priory Club after reaching the final of the Nottingham Open on Sunday.

The Ukrainian led 30-0 on serve at 5-3 before the British No.1 won two games on the trot to tie up the set, and though Tsurenko saved two match points with courageous play in the tiebreak, a costly mid-point decision to challenge gave Konta the mini-break she needed to serve out the match.

There was also an injury scare, which she declined to discuss in detail after the match, but Konta's preparations for Wimbledon next month remain in good shape.

"The things that we focus on with my team are very much to stay in my own process and bubble, my approach to my game and my approach to my career doesn't change according to what is happening outside of me", Konta said on Monday, when asked about how she intends to cope with the expectations that accompany her bid this year.

She will face either Christina McHale or fellow American Coco Vandeweghe in the next round.

Broady said of Kvitova: "She's obviously an incredible grass court player". "She's got a lot of fire power, a lot of weapons".

Atari CEO confirms the company is working on a new game console
For anyone having grown up in the 1970s to early 1990s, Atari is a brand name that they can not have missed. He does say that it is a PC based gaming system, though, albeit not a surprise.

"She's a very big player", Konta said. And I know she enjoys the grass.

Tsurenko was 30-0 up when serving to take the match into a decider but Konta responded and sealed a break back with aggressive shot-making.

Konta began the year winning her second WTA title with a win in Sydney and reached the quarter-finals in the Australian Open and then won the biggest title of her career in Miami to establish herself inside the top 10 players in the world.

"I think this first match on the grass was pretty good". We still have days off to work on my hand, and it was very good today.

Third seed Dominika Cibulkova was upset in a lengthy clash against Czech Lucie Safarova, losing 5-7 7-6 (9/7) 7-5 having twice held match point in the second-set tie-break.
