Draymond Green gets in the mix in Game 4 against Cavs

Just saying the name of Golden State forward Draymond Green causes many Cleveland fans to seethe with rage.

But here's what happened.

Mike Callahan, Game 4's lead official, to a poll reporter: "When the technical foul was called on Draymond Green, we reported it to the table".

Green admitted, though, that the crowd's reaction to the technical - and what it seemed at the time was his ejection - fell on deaf ears.

The Warriors lost Game 5 previous year when Green was suspended, then he came back for Game 6 with a relatively pedestrian (for him) eight points, 10 rebounds six assists, 3-for-7 shooting in 41 minutes in Cleveland's 115-101 victory to tie the series.

This is eerily familiar territory.

Officials John Goble and Mike Callahan explained that they weren't listening to the PA announcer well enough, but hopefully for National Basketball Association fans they'll have their ears open for Game 5 on Monday in Oakland.

Prior to Friday night, the Cavaliers had made 18 three-pointers thrice - against the Miami Heat, the Boston Celtics and the Warriors - and lost all three games.

Green wanted to put himself under the spotlight, draw as much attention as possible, prime the mood for Game 5 at Oracle Arena on Monday, offer himself up as Cleveland Public Enemy Nos.

Green knows there are those out there who wish he wasn't so confrontational all the time, but in his mind, he's got to be him.

Draymond: "They boo me and thought I had a tech I didn't have, so that wasn't sharp". Draymond Green needs to play in this Game 5.

"We have a golden opportunity going home on Monday to close this thing out", Green said.

Green told Lowe that he's "99 percent sure" that the Warriors wouldn't have gotten Durant if they had won the championship last season. "So I'll just leave that at that".

Then when the questions ran out - and that nearly never happens in the NBA Finals, with such a high-profile player, after such a potential series turning point - Green stared at the cameras, shrugged, and suggested he could've handled dozens more.

"I love the vibe we had in the locker room after the game, understanding what we need to do differently to play better, to have a better first punch in that first six minutes, to play with more force and aggressiveness and physicality".

Still he has been veering toward reckless than game-wrecker lately after he returned to Cleveland, the scene of last year's crime. "Obviously we haven't felt this feeling walking off the court with a loss in a while, but we have done a good job of bouncing back and being resilient all year and obviously learning from all different experiences we have been through". "But still trying to figure out why I got the 'second" one". "I definitely expect them to match that effort, but I expect ours to be a lot better". "We obviously know you can't just go home and expect to win".
