France Vows to Go Beyond Paris Climate Commitments

In yet another instance of a world leader trolling President Donald Trump, North Korea issued a statement on Tuesday slamming the United States for pulling out of the Paris climate agreement, calling it "the height of egoism".

Trump announced last week that he'd be taking the US out of the Paris agreement because it punished businesses and would be detrimental to our economy.

"In the absence of leadership from Washington", added the "we are still in" group, "states, cities, colleges and universities, businesses and investors will pursue ambitious climate goals, working together to take forceful action and to ensure that the USA remains a global leader in reducing emissions".

At a news conference, Ige said the islands are seeing the impacts of climate change first-hand, including tides getting higher, biodiversity shrinking, coral bleaching and coastlines eroding. "That is why Hawaii is united in its political leadership on tackling climate change".

The principles of this accord are to adopt green energy sources, cut down on greenhouse gas emissions, limit global temperature rise and cooperate with the global community.

Hawaii is the first state in the USA that will legally enforce parts of the Paris Agreement.

Among the victims were the wife of a lawmaker and six foreigners, including three from Taiwan and one from South Korea. He questioned what he was going to do with the £1.5 million haul of poker chips he had tried to take away.

Although originally led by Democratic leaders like Brown, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, and Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, several Republican governors have also joined the fight.

Hawaii is particularly vulnerable to climate change.

Hawaii on Tuesday, June 7, 2017 became the first state in the country with laws that implement portions of the Paris climate deal.Gov. David Ige signed two laws that aim to reduce greenhouse emissions and mitigate climate change through carbon sequestration, a process to store atmospheric carbon monoxide.

While announcing his controversial decision, Trump said he was motivated by a campaign pledge to put American workers first.

Trump's announcement also prompted more than 1,200 business leaders, mayors and college presidents to stress that they planned to continue working towards the goals set in Paris.

Only two countries are not part of the global agreement - Syria and Nicaragua. Hawaii is the only state that has taken legal action.
