4 militants killed in Rampur sector: Army

An attack by Pakistan's Border Action Team on an Indian Army team along the Line of Control in Kashmir's Uri sector was foiled on Friday, reported PTI.

On Friday, Kalia also said that the army foiled an attack from in Uri sector, killing two militants.

In a massive operation, the Indian Army eliminated 10 heavily armed terrorists, who were attempting to spread terror in the Kashmir valley. Police sources said the bodies of the two slain militants were lying in "no man's land" along the LoC. An Army spokesperson said the two intruders belonged to the BAT, and were trying to cross over into the valley.

Indian army Tuesday claimed it had damaged some Pakistani army posts on LoC and described it as "punitive fire assaults". In February 2000, seven months after the Kargil War, a Pakistani BAT killed seven Indian soldiers in Nowshera in Rajouri district. "The bodies of the two have been recovered and they were only carrying one AK-47 rifle and one pistol", he said. "In another counter-terrorist operation based on specific intelligence generated from local sources in Tral, South Kashmir has so far resulted in killing 2 terrorists", said a release by the Northern Command.

Describing it as a dastardly act which was totally unjustifiable, the group said, "It is against human dignity, offends core constitutional values and violates worldwide covenants, to which India is a signatory". Both the BAT personnel were killed... Several jawans have allegedly been beheaded by BATs.

Prior to the security forces having cordoned off the area where the terrorists were hiding, a patrol party of Army's 42 Rashtriya Rifles on Friday evening was sacked at by terrorists in Tral.

There was no loss of life in the incident, the official said, adding the militants manage to escape from the spot.
