Top Trump aide won't say if Western Wall is part of Israel

Top Trump aide won't say if Western Wall is part of Israel

"I prayed for the president and I wished him success, especially on his upcoming trip", Friedman said in a video posted on the USA embassy's Twitter feed.

This is, of course, completely contrary to Trump's pro-Israel campaign rhetoric.

It described the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995 that Congress passed which recognized Jerusalem as the capital of the Jewish state and called for the U.S. Embassy to be moved there by May 31, 1999.

Haley's comments attracted particular attention because they came in the wake of a diplomatic dust-up between American and Israeli officials over planning for President Donald Trump's trip next week to Israel, the Palestinian territories and Jerusalem.

A Fox News reporter cited sources saying Netanyahu had asked Trump not to move the embassy now, leading the prime minister to issue an angry rebuttal.

Trump had previously expressed interest in moving the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv where most other embassies are located to Jerusalem.

Jerusalem's ancient Western Wall made headlines again on Tuesday.

Israel's Channel 2 reported that during a planning meeting between U.S. and Israeli officials, the Israelis were told that Trump's visit to the wall was private, Israel did not have jurisdiction in the area and that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was not welcome to accompany Trump there. "The statement that the Western Wall is in an area in the West Bank was received with shock", an official told the Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz.

Excessive caffeine led to death of teen, coroner says
NBC News reports that the death of a 16-year-old student last month in SC has officially been deemed a caffeine overdose . A SC high school student died after ingesting a large amount of caffeine, the Richland County Coroner told WOLO .

The White House distanced itself from the alleged comments, saying in statements to U.S. media that they did not reflect the views of the administration.

The United States, like most of the global community, has traditionally considered Jerusalem disputed ahead of final-status negotiations. President will also pay a visit to Yad Vashem, Israel's Holocaust memorial.

Conflict seems to be brewing in regards to not only the USA embassy, but the Western Wall, as well.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson told NBC several days later: 'The president, I think rightly, has taken a very deliberative approach to understanding the issue itself, listening to input from all interested parties in the region, and understanding what such a move, in the context of a peace initiative, what impact would such a move have'.

Steven Tyler, the frontman of United States rock band Aerosmith, which is set to perform in Tel Aviv on Wednesday night, had his own private visit to the Western Wall on Monday and shook hands with Friedman at the ancient site.

Friedman, a Jewish-American lawyer, voiced his reservations regarding the two-state solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, in a sharp deviation from the U.S.' long-held stance.

"The firm denial coming from the prime minister's office was backed by a rare and unusual move", the Jerusalem Post reported.
