Eman Ahmed's Weight Loss: PR Stunt Or Unrealistic Expectations?

Eman Ahmed, 36, weighed more than 78 stone (495kg) when she was operated on in Mumbai in March, but doctors say that she is down to just under 28 stone (176kg).

She has now been flown to Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi where she will continue her recovery. The 37-year-old's sister has said the hospital's claim are bogus and questioned the hospital's claims of her weight loss.

A series of operations in Mumbai brought her weight down to below 200 kg (440 lb), her doctor, Muffazal Lakdawala, wrote in a blog post.

Her family told doctors that as a child she was diagnosed with elephantiasis, a condition that causes the limbs and other body parts to swell, leaving her nearly immobile.

The final days of Ms Abd El Aty's stay in India were marred after her sister, Shaimaa Selim, released a short video on social media alleging that her sister was still unable to speak or move, and had not lost as much weight as the hospital was claiming.

Mark Selby beats John Higgins to seal Crucible title
Selby also matches the record of five ranking titles in a season, previously achieved by Hendry in 1990/91 and Ding in 2013/14. Higgins hit back with an 88 clearance to pull one back, and he gathered momentum with a brilliant 111 to make it 16-14.

There was delay in the discharge of Eman after there the VPS officials from Abu Dhabi refused to sign few papers. "I respect all the countrymen here and the doctors who treated her", said Shaaima Selim, her sister, in her brief comments. Lakdawala, too, had denied the charge.

Nurses who took care of Eman for months said in a tweet, although she has left the hospital her memories will always remain with them. Eman, a resident of Alexandria in Egypt, had not stepped out of her house for more than two decades due to her obese condition followed by a stroke that left her paralysed on one side a year ago.

Ms. Ahmed flew out to Abu Dhabi on an EgyptAir cargo plane at 7.41 p.m."It was an emotional moment for all of us". Every treatment plan, method was debated with great detail.

"We have a number of specialised rooms at Burjeel medical facility where Eman will be treated for neurological and physiological rehabilitation", said Sanet Meyer, director, Medevac, VPS Healthcare. "She will need multiple surgeries to straighten her hips and knees".

After going through several tests and a surgery and related medical treatment under Dr Lakdawala's team in Saifee Hospital, Eman today weighs around 176 kgs.
