Thunder's Russell Westbrook notches 41st triple-double, ties Oscar Robertson

He has already tied Robertson's National Basketball Association record of 41 triple-doubles in a single season, and he came extremely close to breaking it in Memphis, notching 45 points and 10 assists but only (term used loosely) nine rebounds.

Robertson averaged better than a triple-double - something else Westbrook is on the cusp of doing - during the 1961-62 season when he set the record.

Westbrook is the main cog of Oklahoma City.

When Russ recorded his 10th assist, the crowd gave the OKC superstar a standing ovation and chanted "MVP". And, Westbrook acknowledged the crowd with a wave.

What I said about preference comes into play here and I've discussed the dropping value of the triple-double in Westbrook's section, but Harden is my MVP.

Westbrook was simply brilliant again for the Thunder as he willed them to another victory, finishing with 45 points, nine rebounds, 10 assists and five steals.

He had 48 points and 17 rebounds in the game - a 118-111 loss at Phoenix.

Team-mate Doug McDermott, who finished with 10 points and seven rebounds off the bench, said he was not aware Westbrook was a rebound away late in the game. "Just kind of sitting there, embracing the moment", Westbrook said of the stoppage.

"But I'm not one to get caught up in the regular season. The opportunity to play is something I'll never take for granted". Westbrook also moved into a tie with Wilt Chamberlain for fourth on the career list with his 78th triple-double. As for Westbrook, he's just glad his team won, although he understands people wanted to see a triple-double.

"Tonight was a big game, too", Cleveland coach Tyronn Lue said. "It showed that he was sharing the ball, and everybody was benefiting from that".

The Thunder started the second quarter hot, and ended up scoring 35 points to make it a 24-point lead at the half.

Michael Beasley led the Bucks with 14 points.

His final line glistened with 13 rebounds and 13 helpers, but the points column was lacking, a rarity from the league's most voluminous scorer.

After the Thunder's rout of the Bucks, Milwaukee guard Jason Terry was convinced who the victor should be.

Westbrook had 12 points, eight rebounds and eight assists at halftime to help Oklahoma City (44-33) take a 63-39 lead. The game had been paused, right around the nine-minute mark of the third quarter, to acknowledge history. Were outrebounded 53-38.

He had his streak of seven consecutive triple-doubles snapped a night after he tied Oscar Robertson's record of 41 triple-doubles. The Grizzlies are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games, 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Wednesday games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 vs.

The game was marred by a shoving match between Indiana's Lance Stephenson and Raptor DeMar DeRozan with 3.3 seconds left.

He remains on pace to join Robertson as the only players to average a triple-double for a season. "That's the most important part to me".

Cold shooting and porous defense caused the Milwaukee Bucks a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Thunder on Tuesday night.
