Apple Clips Review: Snapchat-like Fun…If You Can Figure It Out

Customers have started to queue 38 hours before the opening of the store placed in the center of Madrid.

"Live Titles let you easily create animated captions and titles - just by talking", Apple wrote on its website. Clips is available to download today from the App Store. With Clips, you can combine your photos with videos, add music to your creation, before sharing it on your various social networks or Youtube. Think of it like a cross between the iPhone's Memories feature, which automatically generates montages from your photo library, and iMovie.

"Clips gives iPhone and iPad users a new way to express themselves through video, and it's incredibly easy to use", Susan Prescott, Apple's vice president of apps product marketing, said in a release.

After opening Clips, the app prompts you to start a new video by holding down the record button. "You can add individual video clips up to 30 minutes long to this timeline; and the total run time of a finished Clips video can be as long as 60 minutes", The Verge reports, while adding that Clips videos are created to be shared in 1080p HD so long as your source video is recorded in HD. Still, the filter selection is relatively small compared to that of apps like Instagram and Prisma.

Flood watch, wind advisory issued for Livingston County
Sustained wind speeds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 45 mph and isolated gusts to 60 mph are expected. Saturday night , the low will be around 63 with partly cloudy skies, the weather service said.

Clips is like Snapchat in that it offers all sorts of fun effects that you can overlay onto your media. Individually, the features are reminiscent of the features in other apps - sepia-toned filters, location and time stamps - but combined, it all feels distinctly Apple.

In a nice twist from the norm, you can edit what these banners say. Adding music can be done with the music icon on the far right of the app, and there are many built-in background music options in a variety of genres, or you can use your own music. "Live Titles let you easily create animated captions and titles - just by talking", per Apple's official description. This option was partly driven by the way people are watching video online now - text only, no audio - which makes sense. But since it's primarily meant for voiceovers, it only worked when I used the front-facing camera, not the main one. The app will use facial recognition technology to determine who is in your clips videos and prioritize those contacts in the share function; although, I haven't tested that much, since I was using the app in advance of its official release and couldn't share the videos to all of my contacts.

What can I use Apple Clips for? But it's missing a couple of potentially helpful features. Educators have published videos showing how Clips can be used to teach foreign languages and vocabulary, and to document a student's science experiments, lending merit to the prospect of teachers adopting the app for use in classrooms.
