Federal Bureau of Investigation has information suggesting Trump associates and Russians may have coordinated

During his White House press briefing on Thursday, Spicer was asked, "CNN reported yesterday that us officials believe-are investigating the associates of President Trump communicated with suspected Russian operatives to coordinate the release of information damaging to Hillary Clinton's campaign".

The latest CNN report suggests that may have changed, but the story relies on anonymous sources and CNN notes "officials cautioned that the information was not conclusive and that the investigation is ongoing".

Former CNN contributor and interim Democratic National Committee chair Donna Brazile leaked multiple questions to the Clinton campaign ahead of the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee's debates.

FBI Director James Comey confirmed before Congress on Monday that the agency was investigating the Trump campaign's ties to Russian Federation.

Press Secretary Sean Spicer laid a mic drop worthy burn on CNN during Thursday's White House press briefing.

Spicer insisted that Comey's claim that the FBI was "investigating" did not mean that the agency has "proof".

One law enforcement official said the information in hand suggests "people connected to the campaign were in contact and it appeared they were giving the thumbs up to release information when it was ready".

Argyrios Karagiannis, the managing director of Flair Shipping, declined AP's request to comment. A search for the ship was under way off the Somali coast on Tuesday.

Other officials warned that it was too soon to draw such inferences because the evidence was circumstantial.

Rep. Adam Schiff, the California Democrat who is a ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, which is also investigating the Trump-Russia connection, echoed the CNN report in an interview on MSNBC on Wednesday.

Four former Trump campaign officials - Michael Flynn, Paul Manafort, Roger Stone and Carter Page - have been investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation over their alleged links with Moscow.

This is partly what FBI Director James Comey was referring to when he made a bombshell announcement Monday before Congress that the FBI is investigating the Trump campaign's ties to Russian Federation, according to one source.

"It's simply not possible to do a credible investigation if you take information that's pertinent to the scope of what you're investigating and bring it to the White House instead of bring it to your own committee", said Schiff.

At the height of the hard-fought election campaign last summer, the United States accused Russian Federation of orchestrating the release of hacked emails from the Democratic National Committee and key Clinton campaign officials in a bid to influence the outcome. The "fake news" reports made a variety of allegations against Clinton.
