Plane crashes in South Sudan

A passenger jet carrying 45 people crashed in South Sudan's northwestern city of Wau on Monday, leaving at least 14 people injured, government and airport officials said.

The plane's right wing hit a auto and a fire started on the right side of the plane, Ateny said. There is no official confirmation regarding the status of the crew and passengers. "But when it touched the ground, it immediately burst into a huge flame", he said.

"It is an unfortunate incident".

Fire engines have been rushed to the site of the plane crash.

Several people were reportedly injured in the South Sudan airport crash, according to India Today, citing a Reuters dispatch on Twitter.

Achieng said the fire initially led many people to think there would be no survivors.

The South Supreme Airliner came down at Wau Airport at around 3pm local time.

Smoke filled the air as firefighters arrived at the scene of the air disaster and poured water on the plane's smouldering remains.

"I don't have any information", said Gabriel Ngang, the manager of South Supreme Airlines, the owner of the plane.
